Started in October of 2012, National Kale Day exists to celebrate the nutritional benefits of and different ways to cook and prepare kale.

Dr. Ramsey is a psychiatrist, author, and farmer. He is one of psychiatry’s leading proponents of using dietary change to help balance moods, sharpen brain function and improve mental health. An assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City, his clinical work focuses on the treatment of depression and anxiety. Using the latest brain science and nutritional research, integrative medicine, and an array of delicious food he aims to help people live their happiest, healthiest lives.
Dr. Ramsey is a diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He completed his specialty training in adult psychiatry at Columbia University/New York State Psychiatric Institute, received an M.D. from Indiana University School of Medicine in 2000 and is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Earlham College.
Jennifer Iserloh is a leader in promoting healthy, vibrant lifestyles though a diet of delicious and nutritious easy-to-prepare meals. A classically trained chef, certified yoga teacher and a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, Iserloh is the best-selling author of 50 Shades of Kale and Healthy Cheats, among other books. She actively supports Grow NYC and the Hoboken Farmer’s market as a chef who believes that farm to table can change the way America eats and thus reverse the obesity epidemic.
She has also generated thousands of articles, blog posts and recipes for publications such as SELF, Health Monitor, Prevention, In Style, People, First For Women, AOL/Huffington Post, Epicurious, and Livestrong. In addition, Iserloh regularly appears on Fox News, The Today Show and other CBS and NBC network programs discussing nutrition, healthy eating, superfoods and related issues.

After serving in the US Navy for over twenty years, Ellen Emerson is charting a new career of service in New York City. A graduate of the Natural Gourmet Institute she is an activist for healthy food and promoting wellness in organizations and communities. She serves as a chef liaison with Wellness in the Schools, a nonprofit that inspires healthy eating, environmental awareness and fitness as a way of life for kids in public schools. Ellen also works with groups promoting cooking for those affected by cancer. She coordinates school and education initiatives as a volunteer with National Kale Day.
Ellen serves as the Vice President for Community Relations for the NYC Military Officers Club and is active with local veterans initiatives. She is absolutely thrilled that New York City has embraced kale by putting it on the school lunch menu citywide and her dream is to get the Pentagon to follow suit!
